Bartzokas: «I feel extremely happy»
The coach of Olympiacos, Giorgos Bartzokas, spoke about the undisputable dominance of the ‘red & whites’ in Greece, following winning the Greek League title.
“We would have liked for the game to have been finished. Titles should be decided on the floor. We made an emphatic performance from the beginning up to 28’, when the game was interrupted. I think that no one can dispute that our season is being concluded with third out of the fourth titles we aimed for. I think that no one doubt that we were the best team of the Greek League. I feel extremely happy for the effort by the whole organization. The team owners, the players, my associates. This is the end of a historical season that will remain embedded in our memory. It would have been ideal for Llull to have missed his shot and that we had won four titles, but I think that no one can say that we didn’t give it all as a team in every game we played”.
And he went on to say: “I have appreciated the cohesion among people. People, even if they are the best people around, don’t necessarily have to have chemistry with one another. There are different cultures, different nationalities, different ages. We succeeded to have a compact team in the locker rooms. This was a happy happenstance, but also the result of an effort, because the team was not built within one season. Nikos Lepeniotis, Christos Bafes, Antonis Katsikis, the physiotherapists, the trainers, we all shared a common goal and we were together in good and bad times. At the same time, we were faced with two major health issues during the season, with our trainer Andreas Gatzoulis and Christos Bafes, which fortunately were resolved in the best possible way and they forged an even stronger bond amongst us”.
