Bartzokas: "We will not fall into the trap"
Following the win in the OAKA, Olympiacos will be hosting Armani Milan tomorrow (06/01, 20.00 CET) at the SEF, for the 17th round of the Euroleague, aiming to begin their official games of 2023 with a win.
“By no means we are not going to fall into the trap of thinking we own Armani”, the Olympiacos’ coach, Giorgos Bartzokas, got to stress. “It’s clear that they have a terrific coach, everyone knows that. It’s clear they have a good roster, and that they also have a lot of injuries from the beginning of the season and I believe this has had a huge impact on their confidence. They have lost core players. However, right now they have a good chemistry working. Whoever got to watch the game against Virtus for the Italian League, when they won by 20 points, have realized that. They also have had three back to back wins for the Euroleague. They defend very well, they have very experienced players, and they have good shooters. Baron is of key significance and he has been averaging 20 points in their latest games. We are no way falling into the trap of thinking it’s going to be an easy game. Everyone must understand we have to work hard during the two hour game to win it”.
About the possibility of Sasha Vezenkov playing tomorrow, he said: “He’s available. He got through part of yesterday’s practice, he will be practicing today as well. Of course, we are going to have to see how many minutes he can have. But I think he will make tomorrow’s roster”.
