Bartzokas: «It was a very important win»

The Olympiacos’ coach, Giorgos Bartzokas, congratulated everyone involved in the win against Bayern, extending the credit to our team’s fans that had a dynamic presence in the “AUDI DOME”.

“It was a high quality game, especially offense wise. The final score is a testament to that”, the ‘reds’ coach stressed and went on to say: “We played a composed defensive game in the second half. Our opponent scored 53 points in the first half and finished the game with 88, that is 35 points in the second half and that was the key. We were dedicated to our defensive duties, we played as a team, hustled a lot and the only thing I can complain about are some missed rebounds, that gave second and sometimes third chances to Bayern and to Rubit. Finally, though we succeeded in winning the game. It’s a very important win for us, against a team I sincerely respect for their style of playing, for the help they get from the bench and Mr. Trinchieri and for their experienced roster. It’s a win I really appreciate. Congratulations to my players. Also, a big thank you to all our fans that were at the arena and helped us so, so much”.

He concluded talking about the war in Ukraine-Russian war. “I would like to say that we are amidst a global crisis. This war is causing despair, sorrow, disappointment… Let’s hope that it will be over the soonest possible. It’s really depressing that innocent people die in this era without any substantial reason according to my opinion”.
