Bartzokas: «A win that I count as a double one» (vid)

The coach of Olympiacos, Giorgos Bartzokas, talked about the significance of the win against Armani Milan.

“I don’t need to even mention that this was a very significant win. Especially at this time in the season”, the ‘reds’ coach stressed and continued: “Following the Greek Cup Final Four weekend for both teams and the winning of the trophy by both teams, you always need two or three days to celebrate and calm down. We did not play an attractive type of basketball tonight, maybe what we played in the first half was of the worst kind. And I’m talking about everything, execution, scoring, the decisions we made, I’m talking about everything. However, I can say that it was only normal. You saw that following the Copa Del Rey, Real Madrid got to score a little over forty points against Zalgiris in Kaunas. The schedule is very hard and difficult and we have to overcome difficult situations. Congratulations to our players, to our fans, to our team in general. It was a very important win indeed, that I count as a double one due to how we got it”.

On his part, the coach of the Italian team, Ettore Messina, commented: “It wasn’t a good game to watch and this is due to both teams. We made 17 turnovers and also, our opponent shot 36 free throws, against 11 for us. That’s a good combination. It’s a recipe for disaster. The game was not good to watch, however, Kostas Sloukas was the highlight. Sloukas was by far the best player on the floor and decided the outcome of the game. He hit threes, he dished three assists in a row to Vezenkov, so he was the one to decide the game. Congratulations to Sloukas, to coach Bartzokas and to Olympiacos for the win. I would also like to extend our sympathy to Mr. Ryzhyk, one of the referees of the game. I cannot even fathom what he’s going through. He came here today in a horrible day for Europe and Ukraine”.
