"I hope we get to hold the Cup tomorrow"

The Olympiacos’ coach, Giorgos Bartzokas and the ‘reds’ guard, Kostas Sloukas, spoke at the Press Conference held in view of the Greek Cup Final.

“There isn’t a lot to say, nor anything in particular”, our team’s coach commented on tomorrow’s (20/02, 16.00 CET) match up against Panathinaikos. “Everyone knows the significance this game holds for Greek basketball. Either it is in your best interest or not, you have recognize that these games haven’t got much to do with the condition the teams are in, or their talent, or actually with anything of the likes. They rather have to do with the particular day, the approach, the level of readiness. They begin with the good shape some players are in that particular night and how many are in that shape at that particular time frame. We have prepared well. We approach this game with the significance it bears. The season has moved forward, so more or less teams have developed a game identity. We know what to expect and the others know what to expect from us. What matters is passion, how strong you go for the ball and at what level the players play as a team so that no one tries to be the hero. I believe in our team game and I hope that tomorrow we play a good game and if possible, we get to hold the Cup at the end”.

On his part, Kostas Sloukas pointed out: “Tomorrow is a very important day for the organization of Olympiacos because the team is returning to a domestic competition final after years. Also, tomorrow is very important because we play for the first title of the season. It’s the most important game of the season up to now and I hope that Olympiacos is the winner”.
