Bartzokas: «We have to be mentally ready»

Olympiacos failed to get the win in Madrid, however, they are going to be fighting hard to succeed getting it in Vitoria.

The ‘reds’ will be playing tomorrow (04/02) against Baskonia, for the 25th round of the Euroleague and according to Giorgos Bartzokas, the key to winning is going to be his players’ mental readiness.

“We have to consider it a given that there is no easy game with the Euroleague, either you play at home or on the road”, the coach of the Piraeus team stressed and went on to say: “A great lot of energy is demanded in all games, high level of athleticism, intensity and what we call contact physicality. Last night’s game was one of the highest possible in these areas. It took a lot of energy on our part to play the game and challenge the win. Unfortunately we didn’t make it, but we have to be mentally ready for tomorrow’s game”.

On what the ‘reds’ need to be doing, so as to get the win in the game against the Basques, he said: “It’s very important to be ready to match up their energy. They also play very well in the transition. We need to make good decisions when attacking and be really focused on what we need to be doing, so as not to allow them the opportunity to run the open court, an area they are really strong at”.
