Bartzokas: "We want our fans by our side"

The coach of Olympiacos, Giorgos Bartzokas, was not satisfied by his players’ defensive performance, however, he stressed that it is necessary they focus ahead. He also did not omit to address an invite for the team fans in view of the crucial home games against Bayern and Villeurbanne.

“It was an offensive game by both teams. Apollon is a team that plays very well in offense. They are a particular team with tall forwards that shoot the ball and it takes a certain tactical game to play against them. We were sluggish with our defense. Except for some exceptions, most players approached the game as if it was a burden. This was a huge mistake. We have established that these games are very important not only because we are interested in the League and we want to win, but because the only way for us to have a good rhythm in the absence of enough practice sessions, is through these games. I would say that although we have a lot of talent offense wise and we can even score 100 points even on a so and so night, we had to perform better in the defense”.

He ended up saying that: “I would like to make a suggestion… We want our fans by our side during the upcoming home games, beginning with the one on Wednesday against Bayern. They are very difficult games and very important for our course. So, I would suggest that our fans support our team. This is a crucial moment in the Euroleague season, only a little before the end of the first round and each win is important”.
