SPANOULIS: Greater effort, greater focus
The captain of Olympiacos Vassilis Spanoulis knows better than anyone else what his team should do to return where it was just a few weeks ago.
V-Span talked about after the game against Apollo about the victory in Patrai, as well as about what comes next: “It was a tough game for us, just like any other game on the road. We come from a very intense game, the one against Siena. We have had periods when we played well and others when we didn’t. At the moment, what we need to improve to return where we had been is 10-15 plays in both offense and defense. We don’t need to change a lot, it will just take a greater effort from all of us, a greater focus and we should realize that at this stage mistakes cost”.
The captain was questioned about the atmosphere in the gym and about whether it’s feasible to have games held with the fans of both teams sitting side by side, just like it was the case in Patrai: “A great atmosphere and exactly what Greek basketball needs, full gyms. Where our country stands now and from what our society has been experiencing, we should realize that we have nothing to split and I wish that all games would be held in the presence of fans of both teams. It’s difficult, but I wish even the Olympiacos – Panathinaikos games would be played in front of a mixed audience”.
