Hackett: “I’m honored…”
Daniel Hackett is now a ‘red’ and just after signing his contract with Olympiacos in Las Vegas where he’s at right now, made his first statements as a player of the Greek champions.
“I’m honored that a great team like Olympiacos, with a huge tradition and the Champion’s spirit, wanted me to join its roster”, the Italian commented and added: “I had no doubt that if things did not work out with the NBA, I would be joining Olympiacos. It wasn’t the right time for me and the NBA and after the meeting I have had with coach Sfairopoulos and the GM (Christos Stavropoulos) everything became very easy”.
Hackett very well knows that hard work is expected of him at Piraeus: “I have worked very hard all the previous time to be ready for the summer league as well as for the national team. I also know that Olympiacos has many international Greeks and Matt Lojeski, so we are practically beginning to all work together in September. I’m ready to play my role and do whatever it takes for the team to be winning. Olympiacos is a ream with a great system and I want to fit this system, just like a piece fits a puzzle”.
As for the Olympiacos fans… “Each time I would be playing at the Peace and Friendship Stadium I was surprised by the atmosphere. I know that tradition is deeply rooted in this team. I want to play with my heart for the fans and I’ll be giving my all despite how things turn out at the end”.
