Olympiacos close to the children
The practice session of the European and Greek Champion had some very special guests.
The students of the Special Elementary School for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired or Argyroupolis, that participate the One Team project of the Euroleague and Social Awareness Program of Olympiacos BC visited the Peace and Friendship Stadium.
The kids had the chance to have their photo taken together with their beloved players, exchange Season Greetings and to then … interrogate Giorgos Bartzokas, the Olympiacos project ambassador Kyle Hines and Giorgos Printezis.
Apart from solid advice, the three ‘reds’ gave the children gifts…
The event was concluded with the statements of the Commercial Director of Olympiacos BC Nikos Lepeniotis, the Director of the School Sophocles Pliakopanos and the “red” ambassador Kyle Hines…
NIKOS LEPENIOTIS: We are very happy today to receive here the Special School for the Deaf and the Hearing Impaired within the One Team and Social Awareness Projects. As you all know, this project aims through the involvement of the kids with basketball and various events, we try to make better people and athletes, to socialize. This project has been running for a year and a half now, it started last summer and is very important to us. The contribution to society for Olympiacos, for the owners, for the players, the executives and the Olympiacos fans is really important to us. We have organized many activities in the past and we will continue. This project gives us the chance to come closer to the children and to the children to get incorporated in the Olympiacos family, since they are now members of the Olympiacos family, so that they can slowly improve both their athletic skills, and also become better people.
SOPHOCLES PLIAKOPANOS: On behalf of the students and educational staff of the school of deaf from Argyroupolis I would like to thank Olympiacos from the bottom of my heart, for giving us the privilege to take part in the one team program. I appreciate the fact that the social character of Olympiacos is promoted through these kind of acts and especially the kids that are in danger. Through this program we aim to help the kids develop some skills that will be helpful, positive (for their social incorporation; their role in society) in the immediate future. I think that we can succeed together and I wish for Olympiacos to continue these efforts that are in regard of the society’s “outsiders” of tomorrow. Thank you very much Olympiacos.
KYLE HINES: I’m really proud and happy to be the team’s ambassador in this program. It’s a great pleasure for me to have the opportunity to share my experiences and knowledge with these kids. I’m happy to work with the kids and I’ll always be right next to the program.
