Bartzokas: «Every game matters, each win is important»
In the press conference following the win over Armani in Milan, Olympiacos' coach, Giorgos Bartzokas, talked about the importance of the road win as well as the health issues our team had to deal with.
He said at first: "First of all, Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all. It was a really interesting and exciting game from both teams that gave it all to win. For us, it was important to return to winning on the road, especially against a team like Armani Milano that right now is a serious contender for the playoffs. We believe that everyone game counts, each win is important, especially on the road, in a home court like the one here in Milan. The issue for us was that we lost Milutinov one day before we had to travel and Sasha Vezenkov was ill, he played while running a fever. So, we had to overcome these challenges to win here. We did it and I have to congratulate my players. Armani had answers throughout the game. We were leading by 6, were ready for a +10 and finish the game, but they always found an answer. With threes, like Bolmaro did from the corner, with Mirotic blocking... Finally, the game was decided by the last defensive play. It was an important game for us. All the best for Ettore Messina and his team".
Asked about the technical he received in the first half and whether it was critical for how the game evolved, he said "it wasn't intentional. I wanted the ball to go to Fall and for him to post Mirotic and it was a possession I was sure two fouls had preceded the travelling violation. I don't think I was extreme with my reaction, but the refs though it warranted a technical. The same thing happened with Armani in the second half".
