Press Conference: Sasha's return
Sasha Vezenkov once again dressed in the 'red & white' and together with the Presidents, specified the European top to be the ultimate goal!
The Presidents of Olympiacos BC, Panagiotis and Giorgos Angelopoulos and the 28-year-old forward received an apotheotic welcome heading to the Press Conference, from about 2,000 fans that came to the Peace and Friendship Stadium.
«It's a great to be here with 2,000 fans outside the building. It was a magnificent welcome for both us and Sasha», Panagiotis Angelopoulos said at first. And went with the following: «We are here to announce Sasha Vezenkov's return to Olympiacos on 5-year deal. Vezenkov is the best player in Europe. He went to the NBA as the best player in Europe, he has won titles with OLympiacos and will continue winning titles with Olympiacos in the next five years. Together with the rest of the team, the new and the already existing players, our goal is to reach the European top. That's clear. Sasha is someone who has worked a lot. I remember him from his time with Aris and later with us. He's a hard worker, he likes what he does, he likes Olympiacos and that's why he came back here to us».
On his part, Giorgos Angelop[oulos pointed out: «We are here to welcome Sasha in Olympiacos' family. At his home. It's a great joy, but it's also very moving to have closed on such a big deal. It may be the biggest deal by European standards for many years to come. Sasha is an amazing athlete, but apart from the professional and competition aspect, he's someone with values, principles and ideals that coincide and match ours. As for Sasha Vezenkov, he thanked the Presidents from heart and repeated he has come back to family. «First of all, I would like to thank the Presidents, because my return would not have been possible without them. It could not have materialized the way we had been thinking about it. I also want to thank the fans that came here today in the middle of the summer, with scorching temperatures. I want to thank those who weren't able to be here as well. I never stopped being in contact or getting messages by the fans during the past season. What was really making me happy was that the fans were happy for me and my games, regardless of being with the NBA. And I want to thank all those behind the 'curtains', those unknown to the majority of the fans, who strive for the team, who are always here through good and bad. Olympiacos is a family and the goal, although it's still early, is always the top. With few words and lots of work. I'm glad to be back here with you, to co-exist with my team mates once again, as well as with the new guys that have joined the roster. We need to bond soon and go and achieve our goals».
