Bartzokas: «We were serious, as always»

Giorgos Bartzokas said the win over Peristeri to be very important. 

"The expected outcome for everyone is never easy. We think nothing as given, neither in life, nor in basketball. Especially when you play with the third ranking team of the Basket League, that was coming from very good performances, had nothing to lose and was playing under much less pressure than us. They unfolded all that they've been presenting the whole season, hard defense, pressure on the ball with both the big guys and the guards. That's why we had to be making fast decisions, without going deep in the defense. We had to be making good decisions and play as a team, against a team that leads you to not play that. I mean with their pressure, they lead you to attack the basket and hence probably make a mistake. We did not fall into that trap. We had 26 assists, we scored 87 points against a team and a defense we respect a lot. This win is obviously very important. Congrats to Peristeri, wish them the best. Congrats to our guys as well, they were serious as always. We wait for tomorrow's opponent. We try to stay 'fresh'. Unfortunately, Goss' situation did not allow us to rest Walkup more today".  

On his part, our team's captain pointed out: "It was an important win. It was the first step of a total three we want to take. We need from tonight, as soon as we know who our opponent is going to be, to concentrate and prepare for the second game. We were quite serious with our game from beginning to the end. We definitely had some periods in the game we have to work on based on the video, given we have no time to practice. I think we managed today's game well in terms of minutes played, because we have to play one more tomorrow, and if everything goes well, one more the day after".
