Super Cup: Olympiacos – Promitheas 93 - 65
Olympiacos crushed Promitheas 93 – 65 and won the ticket to the Super Cup final where he will be playing Panathinaikos (Oct. 2, 20:00 CET).
With Sasha Vezenkov spearheading the offense, the ‘red & white’ got to lead the score from the start (16-12), however, Promitheas took advantage of gaps in their defense and did not allow them to gain momentum (23-19 at 10’). When Kostas Sloukas entered the game though, the balance shifted. The veteran guard ‘fed’ Joel Bolomboy, Olympiacos’ defense became more pressing and efficient, which allowed Olympiacos to open up the distance to +15 (47-32).
Promitheas came close to 47-34 at the end of the first part, however, as it became obvious early into the 3rd quarter, the situation became irreversible for them… Playing a superb defensive game and with Sasha Vezenkov, Thomas Walkup and Alec Peters taking center stage, Bartzokas’ sped up and were quickly leading by 23p. (69-46 at 29’). They did not stop there… Joel Bolomboy and Michalis Lountzis continued attacking the opposing basket, taking the margin to +28 (79-51 at 33’). From there on, Olympiacos consistently maintained the difference at +20 and got an easy victory.
