‘Swept’ over Peristeri!
Olympiacos ‘crushed’ Peristeri on the road 92-57, and won the series 2-0, which gave him the ticket to the Stoiximan Basket League semis. The ‘reds’, who have the home court advantage, will be facing off against Promitheas Patras.
The ‘reds’ made a strong start in the game and relying on their perimeter percentages got to build a 13p. difference from the start (4-17 at 5’). Peristeri tried to react (11-19 at 7’), but, with solid defense and Kostas Sloukas running point Olympiacos closed the first quarter at +16 (13-29). And that was only the beginning! With consistently good defense, completely dominating rebounding (12-23) and Livio Jean-Charles having a leading role when attacking the post, our team opened up the difference sky high to 29p. (22-51 at 20’).
The outlook did not change in the second half. Olympiacos continued putting pressure in the defense, while moving the ball efficiently in offence, came up with good decisions and opened up the difference even more (+41, 36-77 at 31’). With the win having been decided early on, Bartzokas’ players played more freely in the last quarter and as needed to get to the end of the game with characteristic comfort.
The quarters: 13-29, 22-51, 36-74, 57-92.
