Another home win

Olympiacos bested Aris at the SEF 89-67 for the 24th day of the Stoiximan Basket League and is now trains its full attention on the Monday derby (11/4) at the OAKA.

The ‘reds’ made a sluggish beginning and saw Aris leading 10-8 at 5’. With improved defense and Tyler Dorsey spearheading the offense, Olympiacos got a +7 difference (20-13 at 9’). The entrance of Michalis Lountzis, Shaquielle McKissic and Giannoulis Larentzakis gave our team energy, increasing the difference to 11p. for the first time in the game (32-23). However, Aris did not give in, took advantage of the ‘reds’ turnovers and poor choices and closed in to 8p. (41-33).
Olympiacos made a lukewarm beginning in the second half as well and allowed the guests to close in to 5p. (44-39 at 24’). But it was somewhere there that Bartzokas’ players ‘turned on’ their mental switch… They put pressure on the defense, opened fire from the three point line and skyrocketed the difference to 27p. (72-45) at 33’. From there on the game took a purely procedural form, with the ‘reds’ consistently maintaining the distance till the end.

Fall in, Sloukas out

Moustapha Fall returned to action after quite a few days (he had been ill), however, the same did not apply to Kostas Sloukas, who watched the game from the side lines. The French center, although obviously impacted by his absence, got a lot of playing time in view of the derby at the OAKA.

The quarters: 21-16, 41-33, 66-45, 89-67.
