Another road win!

Olympiacos bested PAOK on the road 84-73, for the 20th day of the Stoiximan Basket League and is now focusing on the Thursday game (07/04, 18.15 CET) against Aris at the SEF.

Despite a sluggish beginning, the ‘reds’ closed the first quarter with a positive account (+4, 17-21). PAOK took advantage of the our team’s gaps in defense, ‘struck’ from the three point line and tied the game 23-23, however, the answer by Bartzokas’ players was immediate…

They put pressure in the defense, moved the ball and with offensive pluralism ran a partial 17-4 that sent the difference sky-high, to 13p. (27-40 at 18’). The Thessaloniki team tried to come back shooting from the perimeter, but Olympiacos was able to maintain a steady distance (34-45 at 20’).

With Tyler Dorsey leading scoring, Olympiacos completely imposed the rhythm and got to lead by 19 (45-64) at 29’. With a partial 9-0 PAOK closed in to 10p. (54-64), Olympiacos maintained control up until 34’ (58-71), however, the terrible offensive decisions the ‘reds’ were making when attacking, combined with the good perimeter percentages of the hosts resulted for PAOK to close in to 5p. (66-71, at 37’).

Bartzokas’ players showed their reflexes and running a 8-0 streak (66-79 at 39’) practically ‘clinched’ the win. The final 73-84 was written at the buzzer with a three by the former Olympiacos’ player currently playing for PAOK, Andreas Christodoulou.

The quarters: 17-21, 34-45, 49-64, 73-84.
