An absolutely dominant performance for Olympiacos!
Olympiacos ‘crushed’ Panathinaikos at the SEF 101-73, for the 30th day of the Euroleague and is now aiming at the top 4 seeds.
The ‘reds’ played an almost perfect game in the first half. With superb defense, they did not allow the ‘greens’ to score more than 13 points in the first quarter and with Fall, Dorsey and Jean-Charles spearheading the offense, they completely imposed the rhythm and got themselves a +25 difference (38-13 at 10’).
Giorgos Bartzokas ‘shuffled’ the deck, however, everyone that stepped on the floor continued playing with the same intensity in defense, when at the same time Sloukas and Martin were sending the difference to skyrocket at 32p. (50-18 at 15’). Panathinaikos tried to take advantage of some of Olympiacos’ bad offensive decisions, passed the ball to Papagiannias low in the post and closed in at 25p. (58-33) by the end of the first half.
The ‘reds’ began the second half showing an inexcusable complacency with their defense, they did not move the ball efficiently in offense and paid the price… Panathinaikos opened fire from behind the three point line and dropped the difference to 14p. (60-46 at 25’). But that was as far as they went… Bartzokas’ players once again played a seminar worthy defense, at the same time when Vezenkov and Sloukas were seeing to increasing the difference margin to 30p. (83-53 at 32’). The remaining of the game had a purely procedural character, however, Bartzokas’ players refused to step on the breaks (97-62 at 36’). The 100 point barrier was ‘lifted’ with 2/2 free throws my McKissic (101-72 at 39’).
The quarters: 38-13, 58-33, 78-51, 101-73.
