A regular day at the office…
Olympiacos beat Iraklis at the SEF 94-65 for the 17th day of the Stoiximan Basket League.
The ‘reds’ made a sluggish beginning, hence trailing 7-10. With good defense and Kostas Papanikolaou and Tyler Dorsey leading the offense, Olympiacos was quick to turn the situation around running a partial 11-0 (18-10), but was not able though to completely dominate the tempo (23-14 at 11’).
A competitive Iraklis – despite facing numerous problems – created enough problems for Olympiacos with its zone defense, took advantage of the gaps in the ‘reds’ defense and tied the game 31-31. Finally, Sasha Vezenkov and Giannoulis Larentzakis took over and gave our team a +5 difference (38-33) by the end of the first half.
In the second half, the guests once again started strong and running a partial 7-0, got to lead 38-40. Bartzokas’ players immediately regained the lead (49-42) and widened the berth to 2-digits for the first time (+11, 59-48) at 29’.
With Kostas Papanikolaou leading, the difference went to +16 (66-60). Iraklis fought to close in again (66-56), but the ‘reds’ were determined to seal the win once and for all… With pressing defense and good ball movement, they skyrocketed the difference (+31, 94-63 at 39’), and finished the game.
