A significant win against Armani!
Olympiacos bested Armani Milano 67-58 at the SEF, for the 27th day of the Euroleague and has taken one more decisive step towards the playoffs.
In the first quarter, the ‘reds’ performed excellent defense wise. However, they were facing a tremendous offensive problem that allowed Armani to close the first quarter at +8 (7-15).
The Italians found themselves leading by 12 (9-21 at 12’), but at that point Olympiacos began showing a pulse… They continued putting pressure in the defense, found solutions in the offense with Kostas Sloukas and Shaquielle McKissic and closed in at 2p. (25-27) by the end of the first half.
Facilitation was an element the ‘reds’ were missing in the second half as well, resulting in new offensive problems. This was exploited by the guests, who once again broadened the distance to +8 (31-39) at 25’. Olympiacos though reacted once again and running a partial 12-4 tied the game 43-43 (at 31’).
The ‘reds’ did not stop there… Relying on consistently solid defense, with Kostas Sloukas opening fire from the three point line, Moustapha Fall dominating the post and Sasha Vezenkov always being at the right place in the right time, the ‘reds’ succeeded in imposing the rhythm, built a +13 difference (66-53 at 39’) and got the win with relative ease.
The quarters: 7-15, 25-27, 39-43, 67-58.
