Swept through Bologna like a hurricane!

With the support of 450 of our fans and under the watchful eyes of Presidents Panagiotis and Giorgos Angelopoulos, Olympiacos "crushed" Virtus Bologna 92-70 and continues to enjoy – from an even greater distance – the solitude at the top of the rankings!

The 'red & whites' pressured on defense, ran in transition, dominated under the basket, and quickly built a 15-point lead (2-17 at 5'). The Italians tried to respond, but Giorgos Bartzokas' players didn’t allow them to. Larentzakis, Vezenkov, and Fournier started firing from beyond the arc, increasing the lead to +20 points (14-34 at 10').

In the 13th minute, Giannoulis Larentzakis suffered a nose injury after falling on the floor, but fortunately avoided anything serious and played the second half without issues. During this period, Olympiacos continued to play with the same intensity on both ends, not only maintaining control but also, with Mustafa Fall leading the way, stretching the lead to +28 (26-54).

The three-pointer by Cordinier at the end of the first half (28-54) seemed to signal a comeback attempt for the Italians. With key performances from the Frenchman and former Olympiacos player, Daniel Hackett, Virtus managed to cut the deficit to 12 points (48-60 at 28'). Olympiacos – who saw Nigel Williams-Goss leave injured (ankle sprain in the 26th minute) – initially struggled to resolve all their issues on both ends. However, they found their aim from beyond the arc (thanks to Vildoza and Vezenkov) and ended the third quarter with a 14-point lead (54-68).

In the final quarter, however, order was restored. The 'red & whites' made crucial defensive plays (with Larentzakis starring in many of them), moved the ball well, made smart offensive choices, and regained total control (63-86 at 36'). The game quickly became a formality (66-90), and Olympiacos cruised to a comfortable 70-92 victory.
